Sammy Yuen
New York artist activist, Yuen, started in the publishing industry as illustrator, designer, and animator creating conversation through art. He was an associate art director for Simon & Schuster for almost ten years before freelancing and designing over 40 New York Times best-selling book covers for major publishing houses. Since 2021, with the rise of anti-Asian hate, Yuen applies his artistic and martial art skills to serving the AAPI community. Initiatives include distributing AAPI books to schools and libraries, creating books about AAPI history, founding Team Self-Defense, and illustrating through a Drawn Together residency assistance to Manhattan Chinatown to recover from COVID. Yuen received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Syracuse University.
