About CAMOC
Our Story
Founded in 2005, the Chinese American Museum of Chicago (CAMOC) is a dynamic cultural center for learning and connection in Chicago’s Chinatown.
CAMOC’s archive of regional media, books, and artifacts houses the lesser known stories of this region’s earliest laborers and merchants, the fourth-generation Chinese American families here today, and includes the new families, students, and workers who have made lives here in Middle America. We document the long history and cultural evolution of Chinese in the American Midwest, as we continually make additions to our story.
Today CAMOC stands as the only Chinese American museum in the Midwest. Through a rich curatorial program, research, scholarship, contemporary art, and partnerships throughout the city of Chicago, CAMOC fosters intergenerational, intercontinental dialogue to expand the historical record and our understanding of the Chinese American experience.
Our Mission
Through a dynamic curatorial program, exhibitions, ethnographic scholarship, and partnerships throughout the city of Chicago, CAMOC fosters intergenerational, intercontinental dialogue to expand the historical record and our understanding of the Chinese American experience.
