Ariel Zhang

Ariel Zhang (b. 1997, China) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Chicago, IL. Her practice spans painting, installation, and sculpture, engaging with the spatial and psychological dimensions of architecture. Drawing from both philosophical concepts and formal experimentation, she employs geometric forms, restrained palettes, and fragmented compositions to explore the boundaries between interior and exterior, presence and absence. Her approach reflects a sustained interest in systems, built environment, and the underlying structures that shape perception, prompting the viewers to reconsider our existence through the lens of collective architectural forms. Zhang previously studied German and Economics before earning her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work has been exhibited in Chicago, São Paulo, St. Louis, and Annapolis.
